This Privacy Policy explains how Estima.ca ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you use our website and tools. By using Estima.ca, you agree to the practices described here.
Information we may collect
- Messages you send us: your email address and message content when you contact us.
- Inputs to our calculators: figures you enter are processed in your browser to produce estimates. You do not need to identify yourself and we do not store them server-side.
- Rate alert / contact requests: if you submit the Rate Alerts form, we store the contact details and preferences you provide (name, email, phone if given, target rate, term).
- Technical and usage data: server logs, device and browser type, approximate location from IP, pages visited, basic analytics events (only if you accept analytics cookies).
How we use information
- Operate, maintain and improve Estima.ca.
- Respond to your messages and requests.
- Forward Rate Alerts contact requests to a licensed Canadian mortgage professional so they can follow up with you (only after you submit the form with the consent checkbox).
- Detect abuse, prevent fraud and secure the platform.
What we do not do
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not offer user accounts, passwords, or profiles — there is nothing to log into on Estima.ca.
- We do not send automated marketing emails or automated rate-change notifications today.
- We do not share contact details with lenders or brokers except as described above (Rate Alerts contact requests, with your explicit consent).
- We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Cookies and Google Analytics
Estima.ca uses optional Google Analytics cookies to measure site usage. These are not required. On your first visit a small banner asks to accept or reject analytics cookies; we use Google Consent Mode v2 so no analytics or advertising storage is set until you accept. We do not run advertising cookies.
You can change your decision at any time using the Cookie preferences link in the footer. Rejecting analytics does not affect any calculator or content.
Data retention
We keep contact messages and Rate Alerts submissions for as long as needed to respond to you and to allow the mortgage professional to follow up, and to meet legal obligations. You may request deletion of your personal data at any time by writing to contact@estima.ca.
